    Four Orange County hospitals are designated trauma centers: UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, an adult Level I and pediatric Level II center; Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, adult Level II; Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, adult and pediatric Level II; and Children’s Hospital of Orange County, pediatric Level I. Levels as listed by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority, August 2025.

  2. Which court hears the case

    The Superior Court of California, County of Orange, hears limited and unlimited civil cases from every city in the county at the Central Justice Center, 700 Civic Center Drive West, Santa Ana. Complex cases go to the Civil Complex Center, 751 West Santa Ana Boulevard. The North and West Justice Centers, in Fullerton and Westminster, do not hear civil cases.

  3. Claims against a city, the county or the state

    If a public vehicle or a dangerous public road was involved, a written claim has to be presented to the public entity within six months, before any lawsuit (Government Code section 911.2). Other injury lawsuits are generally subject to a two year limit (Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1).
