What this site collects, and why

Who this covers

This policy explains what Accident Lawyer of California, P.C. (the firm), 8535 Reseda Boulevard, Suite 100, Northridge, CA 91324, collects when you use alca4u.com, why, who else sees it, and how to ask about it. It is written for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and it applies to everyone who uses the site.

What is collected, and where it comes from

What you give us. If you call, text, email, or use the contact form, the firm receives what you send: your name, phone number, email address, the kind of accident, and anything you write. That is the intake form. It goes to the firm by email and is kept on the website in a private record so nothing is lost if the email fails.

Analytics. With your permission, the site uses analytics tools to see which pages people read and where they arrive from. These record your device type, browser, approximate location from your IP address, the pages you visit, and the time you spend. They set cookies. They do not run until you accept them in the cookie notice.

Session recording. If Microsoft Clarity is added, it records how pages are used: scrolling, clicks, and taps, shown as replays and heat maps. Text you type into forms is masked. Clarity runs only with the same permission as analytics.

The office map. The map of the office is an image from Google Maps that loads when you scroll to it; the request carries your IP address to Google and sets no cookie. If you press the map and have accepted analytics, an interactive Google map loads in its place, which sets Google’s cookies under Google’s privacy policy; if you have not accepted, the press opens Google Maps in a new tab instead.

Server logs. Like every website, the web host records the IP address, browser, and page of each request for security and to keep the site running. These are kept for a limited time.

Why it is used

To answer you and evaluate whether the firm can help. To keep the site secure and working. With your permission, to understand which pages help people, so the site can be improved. The firm does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Who else sees it

The web host, which stores the site. Google, for the office map. The analytics and recording providers, for analytics and session recording, only after you accept. The firm’s email provider. No one else, unless the law requires it or you ask the firm to represent you and the information becomes part of your case file, which is then protected by attorney-client privilege.

Cookies

Essential. The cookie that remembers your cookie choice, and the technical cookies the site needs to work. These do not track you and cannot be switched off.

Analytics, with your permission. The cookies set by analytics and session-recording tools. They are off until you press Accept in the cookie notice. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the site’s cookies in your browser, which brings the notice back.

Third party. Google, if you open the interactive office map after accepting analytics, sets its own cookies under its own policy.

How long it is kept

Messages sent through the contact form are kept for as long as needed to respond and, if you become a client, for the life of the file and the period the State Bar requires afterwards. If the firm does not take your case, the message is deleted within one year of the last contact. Analytics data is kept by the provider under its own retention settings, which the firm sets to the shortest available period.

Your rights in California

You can ask the firm what personal information it holds about you, ask for a copy, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. You can also ask that it not be sold or shared, though the firm does not do either. The firm will not treat you differently for asking.

To make a request, email info@alca4u.com or write to the address above with the words “privacy request”. The firm will confirm who you are by matching the details you give with what it holds, and will answer within 45 days. You can have someone make the request for you if they show they are authorised.

Children

The site is not directed to children, and the firm does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
